Client: The Preservation Alliance of Minnesota, the only statewide, private, non-profit organization advocating for the preservation of Minnesota’s historic resources
Role: Interactive designer and developer
Primary Goal: Update the website aesthetic increasing functionality while not losing any previous resources.
A few years ago, I updated the Preservation Alliance of Minnesota’s website to use the WordPress content management system. After a few years, the website had grown and it was time to update the template. The Alliance contacted me to build a new skin and help integrate new plug-ins.
The Alliance wanted the homepage to include a slider so they could focus visitors attention to special events. I found a base WordPress theme which included slider integration. I then modified the backend to utilize the slider and integrate simple slide management via WordPress. Additionally, I worked with the Alliance to integrate Twitter, Facebook, and event coordination.
Overall, the redesign was very well received by the Alliance’s community. In addition, the website helped to contribute to the Alliance winning the 2013 Trustees’ Award for Organizational Excellence by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
